How does GreenClean Liquid Pond Treatment work?
Its mode of action is oxidation, which provides fast control of algae and algae blooms. GreenClean Liquid releases oxygen as it works, which is beneficial in stagnant waters. It not only reacts with surface algae, but will help control bottom growing filamentous algae as well.

There are a number of ideal aquatic applications for GreenClean Liquid:

· In water bodies where copper applications are limited or prohibited

· Where algae has become copper resistant

· In rotation with copper products for resistance management

· In irrigation ponds, lakes or canals where copper build-up or residues have or could become problematic

· In conjunction with bacterial products. GreenClean Liquid will provide an immediate knockdown of algae allowing the bacteria to work more efficiently and provide longer lasting control

· For pond owners, GreenClean Liquid is an extremely safe alternative because it does not harm fish and aquatic life

· GreenClean Liquid is ideal for water features and fountains as it will not discolor concrete or  react with synthetic liners.

GreenClean Liquid Advantages

· Fast Acting - GreenClean Liquid is a contact algaecide and will quickly kill algae that it comes into contact with.  It will usually kill algae within 24-48 hours.  The effects begin minutes after application.

· Non-Persistent - Unlike copper compounds, which accumulate in mud and sediments,  GreenClean Liquid adds no persistent toxic chemicals. Its decomposition leads to the formation of oxygen and water.

· Non-Toxic - At recommended rates, GreenClean Liquid is non-toxic to the ecosystem.

· Reduction of toxins - Some blue-green algae species produce toxins during their lifecycles. The use of GreenClean Liquid as an algaestat can reduce toxin concentrations by preventing blooms from occurring.

· Improvement of odor  -  The stabilized peroxygen component of GreenClean Liquid will  oxidize sulfur compounds and has been shown to reduce geosmin and methyl isoborneol concentrations in water which can be a major cause of pond odor.

GreenClean Liquid Pond Application
GreenClean Liquid is a heavy liquid that will sink upon application to the water surface. Since GreenClean Liquid releases oxygen, some organic matter may float to the surface of the water body shortly after application. GreenClean Liquid can be applied with a pump sprayer.

Application Rates:

1-3 oz per 1000 gallons

Pond Perimeter Application Example

A ½ acre kidney shaped pond with 550’ of perimeter and 3:1 slope with algae out 3-5’ from shoreline would have approximately .02 acre feet of treatable area that would require approximately 15 oz of GreenClean Liquid for the entire perimeter. This is equivalent to mixing 7.5 oz per gallon and applying 2 gallons of the mixture around the pond perimeter.   Depending on the type and density of the occurring algal bloom, additional applications may be necessary for effective control.

Please note that GreenClean Liquid will not be as effective against Phytoplankton or Chara or rooted submerged or emergent aquatic plants.  It does it best job against blue-green algae, filamentous algae and colonial algae which are the most prevalent along the pond perimeter in our region.
